Style suggestions for New Years Eve dressing
As party season commences, wardrobe conundrums descend. Suddenly, there are an abundant amount of fancy invites and celebratory events all commencing with their own individual dress codes and style expectations. Christmas takes the spotlight and New Years Eve slowly creeps up- forgotten amongst the present searching, office parties and family visits.
For this reason, I put together one NYE ensemble that I can wear each year, complete with an outfit formula- should I wish to spice things up when the annual event arrives. As an activist for slow fashion and conscious consumerism, having a readily-curated New Years Eve outfit, which ticks all the right sartorial boxes, and prevents those unnecessary new purchases, is both wise and proficient.
Here is my New Year’s Eve look for this year… and for the foreseeable future.
The vibe– Glamorous, lustrous, fun.
The only regret you should be having is how many martinis you had. Don’t leave your outfit until the last minute and be thoughtful in your sartorial choices. Entering the new year, doesn’t necessarily equate to proceeding with a new dress too.

Suit Yourself
Nothing quite showcases eye-catching, sartorial flair like a traditionally masculine cut reimagined into womenswear. The ‘Borrowed from the boys’ trend has been evolving since clothes became more than just a necessity and there is good reason why women have been curbing fashion cues from the opposite gender. Clean-cut, classic and effortless, when the lady on the street is decked out in a his-for-hers ensemble, her persona elevates to one of pure power, confidence and style status; desirable fashion factors, any style maven would relish in during New Years Eve.
Courtesy of Alexander Wang on the autumn/winter 2018 catwalk and Christian Dior during the spring 2013 runway, fashion has presented the perfect dress to tick all those desirable sartorial boxes. This sleek mini tuxedo dress blends the structure and formality of a tailored blazer with the flirtatious appeal of an LBD. Lending a touch of enduring elegance through its flattering shape, the silhouette is uncompromising in its claim over masculine forms, reinterpreting and reimagining them as a feminine statement piece through the fit and flare. All uniting to exude confidence and allure in equal measure.
Follow suit in a blazer dress when those loaded invitations arrive for a flawless balance of classic feminine and powerful panache.

Twinkle Toes
A little sparkle goes a long way and when it comes to dressing wisely on New Years Eve, it is important to not go too crazy with sequins and glitter. Not only does a small touch of shining embellishments keep your evening edit classy, but it also makes the ensemble more wearable.
Entering a new decade is a very exciting moment but splurging on a one time outfit- decked out in sequins- is arguably more of a spontaneous fashion spend that one is less likely to repeat. Therefore, a delicate array of beading, a dainty diamond adorning your décolletage or a pair of embellished stilettos is just the right amount of sparkle for a radiant ensemble that doesn’t lean towards a one-night stand.

Best friends furever
I’ve had this outstanding white faux fur coat for a year now and it has quickly taken pride of place amongst my winter wardrobe. Seamlessly channelling arctic elegance and enveloping the wearer in a cocoon of softness and warmth, this covetable companion will effortlessly transport any style maven through the seasons. The short fur texture and stark white shade achieves ultimate sophistication, guaranteed to inject dose of wintertime glamour to any ensemble. Thus, proving to be the only plus-one required on New Years Eve.
Outerwear can prove to be a challenge when it comes to partywear but it is vital that everyone stays warm when met with the seasons unforgiving temperatures. (I suffered from serious pneumonia this year which could have potentially ended my life – all because I didn’t layer up!) Fortunately, this jacket is the perfect candidate with its alluring charm and stylish silhouette.
Skilfully layer over a fitted dress as exemplified here or use as an indulgent layering piece to drape over your shoulders for extra Vogue points.

Whilst is undoubtedly important to feel your best, when the clock strikes midnight and the new year commences, it is equally as important to ensure that your NYE edit is more than just a one time thing. Celebrate the glamorous you but ensure it’s not started with a wardrobe whim.
